Classy Cat Eye Easter Egg Abstract Nail Art Tutorial

Classy Cat Eye Easter Egg Abstract Nail Art Tutorial

Hop in because we’re officially hitting a refresh this Easter! If you’re someone who likes to reinvent once in a while, here's your good news: the month of April is all about sophisticated switching, where we trade in the expected for something a bit more elevated. We still adore a classic pastel moment, but if you’re craving a look with more wearable, elegant playfulness than quirky egg-hunt energy, here’s a classy cat eye abstract nail art perfect for your Easter celebration. Let’s recreate these nails to offer a subtle nod to the holiday!

STEP 1:  Apply a peachy base color

STEP 1: Apply a peachy base color

Starting with a gorgeous peachy base shade, apply your Rosé - R034 I Ap-peach-iate You in 2-3 thin, even layers to ensure a smooth finish, or keep going until you’ve reached your ideal opacity. Once you’re happy with the coverage, pop your nails under a reliable flash curing lamp for 30 seconds to cure. This creates a flawless, solid canvas for the abstract art we’re about to layer on top.

STEP 2: Make black oval shapes

STEP 2: Make black oval shapes

Now that our base is set, let’s draw two oval, almost egg-like shapes using the rich Rosé - R002 All Black gel polish onto that soft peachy background, then cure for 30 seconds. These bold silhouettes give the design its Easter Egg nod while keeping it high-fashion or professional. Take your time to ensure that the ovals are evenly spaced and filled in properly for a solid, opaque look.

STEP 3: Paint silver egg-like shapes

Next, we’re going to elevate the design with some striking metallic flair! Working with the Line Art Gel Kit - 23 Simply Silver, paint smaller silver ovals directly over the black shapes and cure for 30 seconds. Remember to place these silver accents slightly off-center or near the edges of the black ovals to create more dimension. This silver gel acts as a reflective primer that will really bring out the shine and depth of the cat eye polishes in the following steps.

STEP 4: Add a golden cat eye color

STEP 4: Add a golden cat eye color

Cat Eye has entered the chat. Carefully add the LB Supernova 10D Cat Eye - SCE17 Procyon, a golden cat eye polish, right on top of the silver ovals (no curing just yet). This layering technique is the secret to achieving a multidimensional finish and avoiding flatness. Learn more about cat eye polishes in this beginner-friendly guide

STEP 5: Bring out the cat eye effect

STEP 5: Bring out the cat eye effect

This is where the magic really happens. To transform the golden polish into a cosmic masterpiece, it’s time to use an iGel Cat Eye Multi-Angle Pro Magnet. By hovering the magnet over the wet gel, the metallic particles will react instantly, creating that signature velvet-like movement. Give it a quick cure for 15-30 seconds to lock that shimmer in place.

STEP 6: Repeat steps 4 and 5 with a different cat eye polish

STEP 6: Repeat steps 4 and 5 with a different cat eye polish

For variety, repeat steps 4 and 5 on the second oval, but this time, with a twist. Switch to a stunning blue cat eye polish, LB Supernova 10D Cat Eye - SCE04 Rigel, and apply it directly over the remaining silver shape. Same as the previous one, use your magnet to dance over the polish, pulling the metallic pigments to the surface to reveal an oceanic shimmer.

STEP 7: Create more shine with gold chrome

STEP 7: Create more shine with gold chrome

There is no such thing as too much glitter! Grab your Line Art Gel Kit - 24 Gold Ring, trace along the borders of the black oval, then flashcure. This creates a crisp, metallic frame that defines the abstract shape and makes the contrast more visible. After, gently sweep the Chrome Powder Pen - Mirror Chrome - MC11 Dark Gold throughout the nail to add a subtle shine accent that ties the whole look together. An extra layer of chrome won’t hurt!

STEP 8: Finish with a no-wipe top coat

STEP 8: Finish with a no-wipe top coat

Lastly, let’s complete the set with the finishing touch of iGel No Cleanse Top Coat or HEMA-FREE PRO-X No Cleanse Top Coat. These no-wipe top coats are popular for their long-lasting shine and durability, provided they’re not exposed to extreme conditions.
